Scales Mound High School



A high school in Scales Mound, Illinois. That’s it. No scandals. Thank you everybody, I’ll grab my coat.

But we don’t want to give you that! That’s not the spirit of Click Random. Here’s what I got.

Scales Mound High School is a public four-year high school with a total enrolment of 63 students or “less than 300 students” according to their official website. 63 or less than 300, I know which sounds better to me.

Their athletics mascot is a hornet. Unfortunately, the hornet could not produce enough sting — the school has zero state championships, though the volleyball and basketball team achieved second place in the Illinois High School Association Division 1A in 2010 and 2011 respectively.

The school achieved a bronze award by U.S. News and World Report. They scored a 42% in maths proficiency, and a 60% in English proficiency. Probably a higher proficiency than this blog.

I was quite surprised to read that all aspiring students must complete a developmental screening as well as a social and emotional screening. They also require a dental examination. Hopefully they are taking pointers from Ali and Mr. Tooth Decay.


The most notable alumnus I could find was from an obituary. Larry G. Hughes, a funeral director, a graduate of Mortuary Science, an “Outstanding Alumni” of The SIU College of Technical Careers, and a sponsor of the Larry G. Hughes Golf Tournament.

I hope that was as interesting for you as it was for me.

DBAA — Don’t be an “ask hole”. This is a leader, right? Our first Click Random list , so for this I will give some descriptions of the books and the author without going into too much detail about John C. Maxwell or a particular book — who knows, these might be random articles in and of themselves. Okay, so, John C. Maxwell is a pastor, leadership coach, or what some might call a motivational speaker. He looks like your friendly, approachable boss who could blind you with his teeth, but has suspicious ties to the mafia and could leave you sleeping with the fishes in San Benito River . Lord Randolph Churchill — Part 2 — A flash in the pan.

They don’t look like much, but this “fourth party” caused a bit of a stir. ( Source ) You still there? Well, if you are, you might not be after this. It’s time for politics — bear in mind that the man voted as “Greatest Briton”, Winston Churchill, was heavily influenced by his father’s politics and beliefs.
